Still Waters Counselling UK
Navigating life's complexities with clarity and resilience through professional, empathetic counselling support
About me
Hello - I am Jan Rosselli. I qualified as a counsellor in 2023. I trained at Waverley Abbey College. I work with private clients in my private practice. I also volunteer at a hospice, helping people affected by bereavement.
Before becoming a therapist, I had a long career as an adoption and fostering social worker, which informs my work as a counsellor.
I bring lived experience and expertise in loss and bereavement, childhood trauma, and supporting those involved in adoption and fostering.
I offer a warm and empathic approach to working with adults struggling with a wide range of uncertainties, pressures, and struggles related to life generally.
I also work with people who struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, emotional overwhelm, and issues rooted in childhood.

How the counselling process works
I believe that every individual holds the seeds of their own healing. My practice is rooted in the quiet strength of listening and the gentle guidance of professional support.
I always go at your own pace. But I do suggest meeting regularly - usually weekly, at the same time and day each week, which gives a sense of routine. However, I can be flexible according to your situation.
I only offer online sessions. I charge £50 per 50-minute session. If you need to cancel, I ask that we agree that if you cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment, then that's fine. If you don't do that, you might be charged for a missed session. Having said that I will take a compassionate approach to an unexpected situation.
The first thing we do together is an initial assessment. I deeply listen with you as you explain why you feel that counselling is the right step at this point in your life. We identify the main things in your life that are affecting you now, and what you hope to gain from counselling.
At the start of therapy, I ask that we agree on a contract so that we both understand the limits of our work, and what both of us can expect.
My approach to counselling
I was trained as an integrative counsellor. That means I use many approaches in how I provide counselling support. I mainly provide person centred therapy, which means I focus on you and your needs. So I don't bring predetermined techniques or models; I let you lead, while I accompany you sensitively.
You may not know what you are looking for as you begin your counselling journey. I offer a sensitive, warm, accepting, and non-judgemental approach. I will journey with you as you begin to understand yourself better, identify your strengths, and grow towards managing the challenges you are facing.
